Slips, Trips, and Falls are among the most common causes of injury in and out of the workplace, resulting in more fatalities than all other causes except motor vehicle incidents!
About the Presenter:
Tom Meighen specializes in Risk Management and Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) for the Chesapeake Region Safety Council (CRSC). He is the former Commissioner of Labor and Industry for the State of Maryland and was successful in having Voluntary Protection Programs, a cooperative effort between OSHA and businesses, codified as law in Maryland during his tenure. He has well over 30 years of risk management related experience in the private sector, having worked with businesses, insurance brokerage firms and insurance carriers over his career.
Tom has developed program materials and instructs a first ever series of council-based risk management courses within the Mid-Atlantic territory. He additionally presents OSHA and safety focused coursework along with consulting activities that bring value and a return on investment to CRSC clients.
Tom’s education and certifications include a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania; Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation through the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters and both the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Claims (AIC), through the Insurance Institute of America.
